Looking Ahead

Dear friends and family,
Welcome to this week’s Sneak Peek as we look ahead to this Sunday’s worship and activities.
This Sunday, we will continue to make our way through Paul’s letter to the Ephesian Church. We will focus on Ephesians 4:1-16 and spend time looking at what it means for us to grow up into the image of Christ. Spend some time sitting and reading the text and be thinking about the indicators for what a “grown up” disciple of Christ looks like. I’ll give you a hint and let you know there are at least three for you to discover in Sunday’s scripture.
This is also communion Sunday. For those of you worshipping from home, plan on gathering your communion elements so you can participate with those of us who are worshipping-in person. For those of you worshipping in-person this week, we will continue to receive the Supper as we have for the last several months with pre-packaged elements.  Pastorally, I still feel it’s too early to pass exposed bread and juice down the aisles.
Finally, though I as pastor cannot mandate it (only the Session can), I strongly advise wearing masks as you come and worship in-person or gather in groups on the church campus. The staff will be wearing ours on Sunday because of the CDC’s latest advice and because there is an uptick in positivity with the Delta variant. I do not love wearing masks any more than you do but because I love you, I will for your benefit. I am humbly asking you to do this for two reasons. First, some of you who have been to worship and have been fully vaccinated are testing positive for the virus. Second, and this is a very personal and selfish reason on my part, my very first grandchild is coming up in about a month in Boston, and I want to make sure I can see her.
Friends, know I love you and Pastors Pam, Nic and I are here to serve you. Please know each of you are prayed for in our daily prayers. God’s winsome grace flow over you and I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
Pastor Patrick
