Pastor’s Sneak Peek for Sunday, April 11, 2021
Dear friends and family of First Pres,
I am still feeling the afterglow of our Easter services and am so grateful for everyone who had a hand in making our services happen. Kudos are extended to the Worship Team at our “sunrise” service and to Susan Dodd who arranged for all the beautiful music at 11:00! It reminded me how much I miss our wonderful choir and am so looking forward to Dr. Masters to getting them singing again for worship!
Recently someone asked me if we were going to stay with the same format in worship we have been following while under COVID. “I miss my traditional service” they shared. I’ve also heard folks missing the full contemporary service, too. Friends, everyone has been most gracious and patient as we have had to adapt to the many changes of the past year. Your staff and lay leadership have attempted to keep things moving in worship with the staff and equipment resources at our disposal the last twelve months. I am proud of our teams that have worked so hard and grateful for you, the church, in being flexible in turbulent times. All this to say, we shall be going back to our former model of having both contemporary service and full traditional service once we get our new Minister of Music on board and the buildings opened back up for more people post-COVID.
This Sunday, we will be looking at Psalm 133 and Acts 4:32-37 and the message is built around the title of, What Easter Means for the Church! We tend to think how Easter morning and resurrection impacts us personally as individual Christ-followers but have we paused to reflect upon what resurrection means for the Church? I encourage you to read ahead a familiarize yourself with our scriptures. Also on Sunday, we will ordain and install three deacons: John and Michelle Pidgeon and Sharon Bunker. It will be a wonderful morning!
Remember who you are! You are a child of God! I’ll see you Sunday and be sure to bring a friend with you! I am
Your pastor and friend,
