Hello from First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale,
I’m Pam Masten, one of the associate pastors here and I hope you are staying well. It’s always great to hear your voices on the phone and thank you for caring for one another.
One of our lectionary passages this Sunday comes from Paul’s letter to the Romans, and it’s interesting that the first 11 chapters of Romans are focused on what islove, and the next few chapters hone in on what is required. In other words, there’s a shift from right beliefto right behavior. On Sunday we will spend some time in the 13thchapter of Romans, where Paul is summing up the law of love in one command: Love one another as yourself. As we know, loving others requires more than feelings and emotions, and here in our passage for Sunday, Paul reminds us that we must love in action. We all know this to be true of course, but sometimes we need a gentle reminder. I invite you to read the passage before joining us in worship…it’s Romans 13:8-14.

We will be livestreaming from the sanctuary this Sunday, and in two weeks if all goes well, we hope to resume in-person worship on Sunday, September 20th, at 11am in the sanctuary. The task force is working hard to make sure we are all staying safe. We are grateful for the team of volunteers who are looking ahead towards an exciting new time of ministry and are modeling how to love in action. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.
Please do continue to reach out to one other and if there are any pastoral needs, Nic, Patrick and I would love to hear from you and are here to support and care for you as best we know how. Be looking for updates on our in-person worship and ministry opportunities; and thank you for joining me today!
Friends, stay healthy, and we’ll see you on Sunday!
Grace and peace,
