Dear Family and friends of First Pres,
My heart is so full from all of the Advent celebrations and worship we have been experiencing at the church. Children’s voices from Happy Land are echoing through the halls of the office as they get ready for their pageant tomorrow. Last night, our choir went to Hope South Florida and sang for the homeless men, women, and children as the city had its remembrance service for all those homeless who have died in Broward County this past year. Your choir did this even after a wonderful performance on Sunday evening at the church; they are a group of people under Robin’s leadership who love to give themselves away! I watched and listened like I was a proud Papa watching my family helping others celebrate lives of the broken ones in our community. How I love this church!
We will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent this week and will be looking at Matthew 1:18-25 and my message title is, “The Best Laid Plans.” We will look at Joseph and Mary and their lives, seemingly rolling along without any problems, begin to get peppered with interruptions and intrusions causing them to readjust their plans. Have you ever had a plan in mind and then for whatever reason you have to change courses in mid-stream? Well take heart! It’s a biblical reality!
Don’t forget to invite your friends to one of our four Christmas Eve services! Our Family Service is at 5 p.m., our contemporary service in-the-round will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Neumann Center, followed by two more celebrations at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. All services are candlelight services; the last three services will also feature communion. Christmas is the number one point of reentry into the life of a Church. Let’s all do our part in inviting just one guest and let them experience the faith that is alive among us!
Advent blessings, my dear friends! I’ll see you in worship!
Your pastor and friend,
