Dear Family and Friends of First Pres,
Thank you for allowing me to have a brief respite last week. We spent three days in the Smoky Mountains and also visited with Kelly’s mom. It was a lovely break, but let me say that it was hotter up there (98 degrees in Bryson City) than in Fort Lauderdale! A huge thanks to Rev. Pam and Rev. Nic for holding down the fort!
This Sunday’s text is from Luke 17:11-19 and ties in well with the opening of our stewardship focus this year of “We’re All In!” Jesus is approached by ten guys who are suffering from leprosy and ask to be cured by him. Take a look at the Story and reflect upon where you are in the action of the Story. Then, overlay that with the sermon’s title, “We’re All In! Two out of three ain’t bad, or is it?” See if you can spot the one action that sets one of the healed lepers apart from the others. What other blessing did he receive the other nine did not? What a rich text!
Just a reminder that if you were elected as a new officer for the church last weekend at the congregational meeting, our first training is Sunday evening at 5 p.m. in the Chapel in the Sky.
Remember who you are! You are a child of God! Share the winsome News of Jesus and be his hands and feet to our broken and hurting world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
