First, let me thank you for the time away last Sunday as Kelly and I traveled to Seattle to celebrate our oldest daughter, Lauren’s, wedding. We had such a fun time connecting to family and making new friends and are thrilled for Lauren’s new adventure!
We are taking time to look at Luke 13:10-17
. It is a story that only appears in Luke’s Gospel, although there is one similar to it in Luke 6: 6-11
. Take a look at both of these scriptures and jot down the similarities and differences between the two. What are these two passages trying to tell us? I will be building my thoughts around the title, “Church in America is Operating Under a New Set of Blue Laws.” Some of you may not even know what Blue Laws are and that in and of itself makes me feel old!
I wanted to give you a heads up that even though next Sunday, September 1, 2019, is the first Sunday of the month when we typically have communion, we are holding off communion until Sunday, September 8, 2019, for Rally Day: Get Fed!
Remember that on Rally Day, we will only have one service that morning at 11 a.m. so the entire congregation can participate in the Rally Day fun and festivities. It will be a wonderful day to bring a friend and kick off the new church year!
