Dear family and friends of First Pres Fort Lauderdale!
Joy and blessings to you this Fourth of July! I’m reminded of my relative Frederick Michael, a German Lutheran Pastor from Concorde, North Carolina who fought in the Revolutionary War to secure the freedoms we enjoy today. Since that time, many brave people have sacrificed their very lives to ensure we are able to live in a free, democratic republic. I pray our time over this week will include some time for thoughtful reflection on each of our parts to consider the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted. Men, women, and children are literally dying to come to our country for a better life; let us make this week a time for prayers of thanks and gratitude for all we have!
There will be only one service this Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. for communion and for the purpose of Installing the Rev. Pamela J. Masten as First Pres’ Associate Pastor for Congregational Care. Pam has been serving Christ in our community since January, but this Sunday, the relationship becomes official as “we put a ring on it!” and Install her as a Pastor here. It is an exciting time for Pam and for this church, and I invite you to come and celebrate this week at 11 a.m.! There will be a light reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
This week, I will be picking up in the Lukan Story where Pastor Nic left off last week. Please spend some time reading and reflecting on Luke 10.1-11
and ask yourself, “What is my homework according to this text?”
I cannot wait to see you Sunday! Please remember, just one service at 11 a.m.
Remember who you are – you are a child of God! Share the winsome Story of Jesus and be His hands and feet in our needful world! I am
