Music Associate Michael R. Sayers and the 2019 Kirk Singers presented their annual Spring Concert last Sunday Evening, June 2nd, as a wonderful culmination to Youth Sunday. The concert program presented many pieces that were used in our worship services during this past 2018-2019 singing season, as well as Christmas music and a medley of selections from their Broadway musical “Grease” which was presented in March. Soloists featured in the concert were Winn Bondurant, Ragan Jacaty, Evan Kane, Sam McCawley, Nathan Mahon, Wesley Mahon, Madison Moore, Claire Tate, Lilly Tate, and Cameron Young.
Special recognition was given to singers with superior and excellent attendance, as well as the outstanding Kirk Singer award and the Mr. and Mrs. Harvey T. Reid scholarship recipients (Madison Moore and Caroline DuBois-Weber). A highlight of the concert each year is the traditional invitation to all other present and former Kirk Singers to join the choir for the singing of “Friends.”
It has been a wonderful year of music, and the support of the congregation to our Youth and Music Ministries is always so much appreciated. We are saying “good-bye” to another outstanding group of seniors, many of whom have sung in our Choirs since they were very young children. They leave with our congratulations, prayers, and the hopes that the music and the texts that have brought music alive in our weekly worship will stay with them for many years to come.
