Dear family and friends of First Pres,
Merry Christmas! Kelly and I so pray that your Christmas Day was one of joy and spiritual rebirth in the life of our Savior Jesus
Christ! The day is one that can be full of quixotic emotions and feelings. On one hand, there is great joy for what God has done and is doing along with time we spend with loved ones and friends. On the other hand, for some of us, it may have been a day of thoughtfulness and reflection because of the grieving for lost loved ones and friends. The power of Christmas is that it commemorates a day when God comes down and experiences the very same joys and sadnesses we experience in our own life. God in Jesus is one of us! Merry Christmas, indeed!
This week we are looking at Paul’s letter to the Colossians 3:12-17
. I will be using the rendition of the text from Eugene Peterson’s The Message
Bible. As you look ahead and reflect on it, see if there are clues and hints on how we might want to encounter our new year as individual Christ followers and as a Church. What does it say how we might approach the coming new year?
I’ll see you this Sunday; be sure to invite a friend to join you in worship! Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Share the winsome news of Jesus Christ and be His hands and feet in a broken and hurting world. I am
Your pastor and friend,
