Dear family and friends of First Pres,
It’s Advent! We began this season of preparation last Sunday in two meaningful ways. First, in worship we took time to remember the Second Advent of Christ First. In other words, we are reminded in Advent week 1 to keep focus on the end goal of our life which is life in and with God. Second, we celebrated our Hanging of the Greens Service with all children and youth choirs singing, Scottish pipes and drums blaring, Christmas carols celebrating – it was a beautiful day!
This week, we are looking at the second week of Advent and its focus on John the Baptist from Luke 3: 1-6
. Reflect on this text for a few days and contemplate what you think what each of our highest priorities should be over the next few weeks. Many people hear John the Baptist’s words as “bad news” but we are going to note what a Good News note he is actually making!
Also, please be thinking about our Christmas Eve offering this year as we are all being asked to give the perfect gift celebrating all God has done, is doing, and is launching through you this new year.
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be His loving hands and feet to the world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
