Dear family and friends of First Pres,
For the last two weeks, we have been looking at what it means to prepare for an adventure as we chart a course for ministry in 2019. We have taken stock of what we have as well as what we should get rid of in terms of our wish dreams and nostalgia. Last week we took some time to prepare for the journey ahead and determine what we need to get to where we want to go. Well, this Sunday we are going to look at what is required of all of us in order to weigh anchor and set sail!
We will be looking at an Old Testament Story from Joshua 1:1-9
; as the new leader, Joshua is preparing the people to cross into the Promised Land the first time. We will also look at where we left off in Paul’s letter last Sunday and zoom in on 2 Corinthians 9: 6-15.
These are wonderful Stories of faith, trust, and resolve to step out into an adventurous future where God is leading the way.
When you come Sunday, the Session invites you to bring the Estimate of Giving Card that has been sent to you (we will have some at the church, too). We are asking every member and consistent guest to prayerfully consider an estimate of what you think you might be able to contribute to the church’s operating budget in 2019. Your input and the budgeting process your leaders have put together will better enable us to know how to plan for ministries in 2019. Everyone’s input is needed, so please bring your card and drop it in the offering plate as it goes by on Sunday morning.
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be His loving hands and feet to the world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
