Dear Family and Friends of First Pres,
Last week we began looking at charting a course for ministry in 2019 and took some time looking at what it means to prepare for an adventure. Part of setting out on a trip is to first see what resources you have and then decide what to keep or what we need to discard in light of whether those resources will be helpful on the upcoming journey. Specifically, we noted how people are inherently nostalgic and face the future facing backwards; in other words, we have our wish, dreams of the way things should be and if they worked in the past, those same projects, systems and ideas will work today; unfortunately, that is not always the case.
Once we have taken stock of where we are at any given moment means honestly assessing where we currently are and what is needed to set out on a new course. This is what we are going to be looking at today. We look at a ministry map for our missional journey at First Pres and we look forward to “the why” for the need of the resources we will utilize in the future to move this ship, called First Presbyterian Church, forward. Our text will be coming from Paul’s second letter to the church in the Corinth. Take some time to read 2 Corinthians 9:1-5 between now and Sunday.
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be His loving hands and feet to the world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
