Dear family and friends of First Pres,
I’m still reflecting over Nic’s message from last week and am grateful for the good, hard work he did in tying the issue of divorce with what the larger scriptural picture was conveying. We are so blessed to have him on our staff!
This week, we are going to continue in the Story of Mark as we begin our congregational focus on our stewardship of God’s resources. The texts we’ll be looking at are Mark 10:17-31
and 1 Samuel 17: 32-40
, and they will ground our upcoming series on Charting a Course for 2019.
This week we will focus on taking stock of the gifts and resources we have as a church. Some of those resources, mindsets, and “ways we’ve always done things” are helpful and life-inspiring; others are not so much. Before we can chart a course and set out on a journey, we will look at “what we have on our boat.” Once we see what our current provisions are, then we will look at what supplies we will need in order to set out on this adventure on October 21. Once we have assessed what we have and what we need, October 28 will be a day where we as a congregation commit to set sail towards the dragons on the map, i.e. those uncharted territories God has waiting for us.
I am excited to be sharing about our church’s dreams in the future and how God wants us to be investing in the Kingdom here in Broward and beyond. I will look forward to seeing you Sunday! Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be His loving hands and feet to the world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
