This Sunday, March 25, 2018, we celebrate the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem as Jesus deliberately makes His way to the cross. Your church family is working hard to provide as many opportunities to slow our busy lives down so that everyone is able to experience the emotional and spiritual tensions that move us from hope, to despair, and finally overwhelming joy this Holy Week. I want to give you a snapshot of what is provided next week:
Wednesday – March 28
Contemplative Prayer and the Labyrinth. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall in the Neumann Center. Designed after the famed Labyrinth of Chartres Cathedral, the prayerful walking of the labyrinth helps us to, literally, slowly walk the path to the Cross with Jesus. Christians have used walking meditation and prayer since the early first century Church.
Thursday – March 29
Contemplative Prayer and the Labyrinth. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Maundy Thursday Worship. We are gathering at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary with the reenactment of the Last Supper and Holy Communion
Friday – March 30
Good Friday Service. Noon. Designed for those who have to work during the day, we are having a 30-minute contemplative worship service in the Sanctuary, followed by a light lunch in Fellowship Hall.
Easter Morning – April 1
8 a.m. Sunrise Worship in Colee Hammock Park, just opposite from the Sanctuary, facing the New River.
9:30 a.m. Contemporary Worship in Fellowship Hall in the Neumann Center.
11 a.m. Classical Worship in the Sanctuary.
You will note that we are only having three services this year. As your new pastor, it is very important for me to worship with all of you on our first Easter morning together; consequently, we will only have the one contemporary service at 9:30 a.m.
This is such a powerful time of year to be together. If you have a pre-churched friend or someone looking for a dynamic place to be on Easter, invite them to First Pres to one of our many worship experiences!
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Share the winsome Story of Jesus Christ and be His hands and feet to a broken and hurting world. I am
Your pastor and friend,
