We have had a wonderful Advent Season and have been preparing ourselves for the Christmas celebration. The schedule is for one service of worship on Christmas Eve morning at 11 a.m. The sermon theme I have chosen is: “Christmas is coming, ready or not.” We will be looking at the miracle that happened to Elizabeth and Zechariah, who in their advanced age, became parents of a son who became John the Baptist. It is truly a remarkable event. Perhaps you will find it helpful to read Luke 1: 5-23.
In the evening we will have four services: a family service at 5 p.m. which will include a Children’s Choirs presentation and a brief message titled “Christmas can happen wherever you are.” Then at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall the Contemporary service will take place, followed by worship in the Sanctuary at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Holy Communion will be observed at 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., and all four services will end with the traditional candlelight service, which will close with the singing of Silent Night. Perhaps you will find it helpful to read Luke 2: 8-17 before these services.
This will be my last e-mail to all of you, whom I have come not only to appreciate and admire, but also to love. I began my time with you on October 1, 2016 and now after 15 months, will be retiring and I will carry such fond memories of my time with you. Please know what a privilege it is has been for me to share the ministry with you. You have been so gracious and welcoming that I will cherish you in my thoughts forever.
May God continue to bless you and keep you always faithful to God.
I will continue to pray for you as you welcome your new pastor, Dr. Patrick Wrisley.
With love and gratitude for you,
Rev. Dr. Robert W. Bohl
