Looking Ahead

Dear Friends,

We are so grateful for all of you and your devotion and commitment to the church. First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale has been a beacon of light and hope for decades and God continues to bless this church in special ways.

We have to ponder from time to time the significance of the church. For that reason I am proposing that we all try to answer the question about the church: why do we bother with the church when we are in a country where so many do not?

People give all kinds of reasons as to why they avoid the church and stop coming, drop out because they did not like something that was done, or say they do not like organized religion.

The one excuse I have never heard is: “I don’t come to church because I find Jesus a disappointment, or a fraud.” No one has ever said to me, “I have found a better Christ, a better God, a better hope for the world.”

I encourage you to take a moment and read the few verses from I Peter 3: 13-17 and Mark 12: 28-34 before you come to worship.

Make sure you join us on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. for our single worship service where we will be announcing the Pastor Nominating Committee’s nomination for our next Pastor/Head of Staff. Learn more

With love and gratitude for you,
