In Matthew 10: 41, Jesus says, “Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward…” What does a “reward” look like for followers of Christ? Is it only “in the sweet by and by,” or are there rewards to be enjoyed in the here and now?We hope you will join us this Sunday, July 2, 2017, as the Rev. Dr. Daris Bultena, General Presbyter for the Presbytery of Tropical Florida, brings us God’s word at all three worship services!
As followers of Christ, our motivation for living as apostles grows out of our faithfulness. In a context of consumerism, we are challenged by our Christian values that invite us to risk ourselves and our resources for the sake of following God’s call without clear payoff according to the world’s standards. Long ago, when Abraham ascended the mountain with his only son Isaac, what he was doing, was he risking himself (and his only son!) for the sake of being faithful? Faithfulness continues to be risky business, does the Lord provide rewards for such risky business?
