Looking Ahead

Dear Friends,

bohl_img_0095_ks_200wSome time ago the phrase emerged which said: LIFE IS WHAT HAPPENS TO US WHEN WE HAD OTHER PLANS. There is some truth in that thought. It is very safe to say that in every life there are things that happen that seem at the time to be totally unacceptable. We are pleased to invite you and your friends to come worship with us on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

When that happens we have at least two choices to make: either we deny the importance of the unacceptable or we make a determined effort to deal with them. Helen Keller said this about the fact that she was blind: “WHAT I CAN’T HAVE, I DON’T THINK ABOUT.” These days the temptation is to do the opposite: “WHAT I CAN’T HAVE, I SPEND MY LIFE TRYING TO GET.”

The Epistle reading for Sunday is Philippians 4:4-13 and the Gospel reading is Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26. Both readings give clear advice on how to deal with the unacceptable.
