Frequently I encounter people who ask me if I ever get lonely, and more to the point they ask: how can we overcome loneliness? It seems very safe to say that loneliness can even attack those who are otherwise mostly happy. We invite you to join us for worship this Sunday, May 14, 2017.
Perhaps the Psalmist gives to us some very important information about loneliness. In Psalm 139, we are reminded that there is no place we can go to be completely alone because wherever we are, God is already there, even if at times we do not recognize God’s presence.
The Gospel reading for this Sunday is John 16: 25-35, which told us that when Jesus was giving His final instructions to His disciples, he told them that He was going home to be with His father, and that they would not be alone – His spirit would always be with them. This does not mean that any one of us will be totally free from loneliness. It simply means that if we trust God, we will never be completely alone, GOD WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US.
