Join us this Sunday, April 2, 2017, for the fifth Sunday in Lent. The scripture we will be focusing on this week is Luke 17: 1-6.
This is the season when we prepare our journey towards the Easter celebration. For centuries, Christians during Lent have concentrated in a more focused way on their faith in God. Frequently I am asked, “Can you help me to find a way to increase my faith?”
It is a curious thought that Jesus was asked that question by the disciples when Jesus was talking about the need to practice unlimited forgiveness. In fact, the disciples only asked Jesus for two things. One, increase our faith, and two, Lord teach us how to pray.
It appears that Jesus was far more concerned about encouraging people to use what faith they already have rather than granting them more faith. If you have a moment, you will find it helpful to read Luke 17: 1-6 as you prepare for worship this Sunday.
