Our very own Sam McCawley, a Freshmen at Cardinal Gibbons High School, is seeking help for a community service project that he has initiated to help the victims of Hurricane Matthew, here is how he got started.
“In 2008 my school adopted 3 Little Flowers Center in Haiti. We gave them uniforms we outgrew and school supplies we collected. After the earthquake several years ago, we had a school-wide community service project to collect clothing, medical supplies, and school supplies. We partnered with Food for the Poor, and they transported the supplies to Haiti. One of the administrators (Mrs. Del Alamo) has stayed in touch with 3 Little Flowers Center, and has visited the school several times. Her last visit was when they were able to reopen the school after the earthquake. Recently the people of Haiti experienced another disaster when Hurricane Matthew hit them in October. Over 80% of the buildings in the southern section of Haiti (where 3 Little Flowers Center is located) have been destroyed. So now I’m seeking donations to send to once again help out this school and country.”
Sam is asking for people to bring donations to church. He will have bins in the Harbor, the Front Office, the lobby of the Neumann Center, and the Choir Room. The collections will happen on November 13 and 20, 2016.
