We are approaching one of the final milestones along the interim journey we are on together. You recall that we looked at and adjusted the worship schedule. We also got the Family Village plans underway and completed. That project has been the recipient of a number of awards in Broward County for its excellence. The Fellowship Hall has been renovated as well as the Sanctuary. Our financial reporting is more transparent and readable by the average person.
Your Session has now recommended to you a new structure that will help First Presbyterian be more streamlined and in compliance with the Book of Order. This new structure will require that we bring our by-laws up to date as well. These items were emailed to the entire congregation on Monday, February 29, 2016. The Session of First Presbyterian Church has called a Congregational meeting for Sunday, April 3, 2016 beginning immediately at the conclusion of the 11 a.m. worship service in the Sanctuary for the purpose of approving the recommended revised Bylaws, and, if those Bylaws are approved, to receive and act on the Nominating Committee’s nominations for Elders to fill out the Session to 21 members as prescribed in the right-sizing plan. That will complete our interim tasks. Your Session is in the process of selecting a Task Force for conducting our Mission Study. This study will serve as the foundation for the church ‘resume’ known as a “Ministry Opportunity Form” which your Pastor Nominating Committee will use in its search for your new pastor.
Things are moving quickly. My hope is that this process is giving you hope and a sense of accomplishment.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call. I would be happy to talk with you about the process.
Yours in His service,
