Dear family and friends of First Pres,
This past week, we took some time to reflect upon heaven and the importance of a bodily resurrection for our Christian faith. We discovered that heaven is a place, that it occurs at a point in time, and that our resurrection bodies have moral implications for how we live our lives today and into the future. This week, we are concluding the liturgical season of Epiphany with the celebration of Transfiguration Sunday.
Our texts for this week will come from Luke 9: 28-36
and Exodus 34: 29-35
. It’s a day we contemplate what the Hebrews and the disciples saw when Jesus’ (and Moses’) face was saturated with the glory of God. The radiance of God’s glory upon the face of Christ changed His appearance into the recognizable Christ of God. This week, let’s ponder what others see reflected in your face. What does First Pres reflect to the world?
Just a reminder our Ash Wednesday service is coming up next week on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. We will serve dinner at 5 p.m. and then head over to the Sanctuary and experience a very moving service to begin the liturgical season of Lent. This is a wonderful service and I encourage you to invite someone to come with you!
Please be aware that the Las Olas Art Fair will be taking place this Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3, 2019, and there will be road closures in the area for the event. Make sure to leave early on Sunday to make it to worship on time.
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be His loving hands and feet to the world! I am
