Dear family and friends of First Pres,
This Sunday, we are continuing to work in Ephesians and pick up where we left off last week. Previously, we noted how God has bestowed gifts to members of the church for the purpose of building up the Body of Christ to become to full maturity in our faith. We left worship with the question: How well am I using my gifts to help equip others in the community and am I letting others use their gifts to equip me? In other words, are we stuck drinking spiritual Enfamil or are we eating spiritual meat and potatoes?
This Sunday, we are looking at a second facet of building up the Body of Christ. Our text will be Ephesians 4: 25-5:2
. Whereas last week we looked at equipping the Body, this week we will look at the measure of our words and how they can de-quip the work of God in a church and community. Please read ahead in the text for this week to see what Paul might be saying to you, indeed, to all of us at First Pres and how we measure our words into our homes, places of work and group activities. As a reminder, the VBS kids will be singing at the 9:30 a.m. service, too!
Be sure to look out for Monday’s E-Pistle, as I am sharing some detailed and exciting news for us as a church. You will also hear more about it at the Congregational Meeting on Sunday, August 19 following the 11 a.m. service. We will act upon a report from our Congregational Nominating Committee regarding their suggestions for an Associate Pastor’s Nominating Committee to secure a Pastor for Congregational Care, who will spearhead the pastoral care ministry of the church.
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be his loving hands and feet to the world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
