Sunday, June 3, 2018 is Youth Sunday! We hope to see you this Sunday as our youth leads us in worship.
Sunday’s service will highlight the importance of faith in young lives at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. The church asks the students to conduct the worship service one day a year and this year, the youth-led “Graduate Sunday” service will take place during all three worship services.
High school seniors, Cassidy Khatcherian and Mason Tilbrook, will deliver sermons, drawing on their relationship with Jesus Christ and how their experiences at First Pres have helped cultivate this relationship. These seniors were chosen for their commitment to Christ and their extensive involvement in church youth activities throughout high school. The Kirk Singers (the high school choir) and Chapel Singers (middle school choir) will sing at 11 a.m., and other students will lead in all aspects of worship.
It is at this annual service that the church also awards college scholarships. This year, 44 scholarships will be given to provide financial support to college students. In its over 40 years of existence, the scholarship program has provided more than 1,200 scholarships totaling more than $1.4 million.
My encouragement to you this week is to take the time to sit down and read 1 Timothy 4:6-12 as you prepare for worship.
The Kirk Singers will present a concert this Sunday, June 3, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. They are taking this opportunity to sing a culmination of their favorite music, as well as recognize our graduating seniors and other attendance awards. Everyone is invited to come hear them sing!
See you there,
Nic Merchant, Chandler Gelb, and Simeon Rodgers
