Dear family and friends of First Pres,
Last week, Pastor Nic spoke a Message on Pentecost, the Christian Church’s birthday, about how God has bestowed His very essence and Spirit into us. We were reminded that even when we live in a swirly world with tragic events, God is still manifestly present even though we may not immediately experience it at the moment. When you think of the Holy Spirit, think of it instead as God’s-Making-A-Home-in-Me-Presence.
This morning the Church calendar moves from Pentecost Sunday to Trinity Sunday. It’s a day we pause the reflect upon the fact Christ-Followers believe in a Triune God. We often do not think about what the Trinity means to us in the present day. In the mind-clouds above our heads, we ponder, “Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. What’s the big deal?”
This Sunday we are going to begin uncovering the mystery of the Trinity a bit so we can better understand God’s dynamic role in our everyday life. This week’s preaching text is from Romans 8:12-17, and I encourage you to go ahead and read it before worship; let Paul’s words rattle about your head as you begin thinking about the relationship between Trinity and the mission of the Church.
I want to personally thank each of you for your prayers, cards and emails of encouragement and support for me during my hip-replacement surgery and recovery. I am feeling so much better and I appreciate your letting me get the procedure done.
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! Proclaim the Good News of Jesus wherever you go and be his loving hands and feet to the world! I am
Your pastor and friend,
