Generally, this Wednesday email is an opportunity to share a word about what you can expect to hear in worship on Sunday. However, it is with heavy hearts that we are wrestling with last night’s news of a fatal car accident on Fort Lauderdale Beach which resulted in the death of two local teens, one, the child of a beloved Happyland family. This event has deeply affected our church and community. Today is a difficult day as we grieve another tragedy together and wrestle with tough questions.
In light of all this, the importance of simply gathering as a community of believers is magnified. As we move forward amidst the sorrow, I am reminded that our gathering is not an obligation we fulfill on Sundays, but a way we receive God’s benevolent gift of community. In coming together to support, love, and pray for one another we learn to lean not on our own strength, but rather on the hope and promises of Jesus Christ.
I hope that you will join us this week as we gather. If you or anyone you know could use prayer, a listening ear, or space to process please contact us.
