The fall season is well underway. I do hope that you are taking advantage of the learning and worship opportunities here at FPC. Also, what a joy it will be for you to invite someone who does not attend church or who has just dropped out, to come with you to one of the activities here at the church.
For some time I have been concerned with how many people I know who seem to have such a pessimistic attitude about life. Many times these people claim to be a Christian. It has caused me to think that it is a contradiction in terms of what it means to be a Christian. Pessimism should only be for those who do not believe in God. And those who believe in God have no choice but to be hopeful. God is still in complete control.
So my mind has been concentrating on what it means to be optimistic, or better yet, to be a hopeful person. God, I believe, wants us to live life with great expectations. It does not mean we will live a life without problems, what it means is that God will equip us to handle whatever comes.
With love and gratitude for you,
Rev. Dr. Robert W. Bohl
