Join us this Sunday, February 5th, as Rev. Dr. Robert W. Bohl brings us God’s word from Esther 4:1-16.
Often someone says to me, “I just never had the opportunities that most people have had, that is why I never really succeeded in life.” One of the many things that I have discovered in life is that opportunities come to every one of us, and I have discovered that great opportunities tend to come around only once in life.
There is a marvelous Biblical illustration of this. Perhaps before Sunday, as you come to worship, you will have a chance to read a few verses from the little book of Esther, especially Esther 4:1-16. You will discover a great truth about life. Opportunities become good or bad based on what we do with them.
I believe this is not only true of individuals, but also of organizations, and this is especially true of the church. One of the great lines in the book of Esther is the line from Mordecai to Esther when he was trying to convince her to do something for her people: “Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.”
Honesty would require us to ask: why has God put us in this church at this time? What does God have in mind for us to do?
